Yesterday, we admired troublemaking administrator Lars Von Trier for effort his flick Melancholia a bunch of advise by telling grouping he was a Nazi. And look, he’s still effort headlines today! Yes, it looks like that little bit of rabble-rousing has backfired. Of course, it became country that that was happening almost immediately. Melancholia’s post-premiere band was canceled and Von Trier was forced to attain an apology, releasing this statement:
“If I hit perceive someone this morning by the text I said at the advise conference, I sincerely apologize. I am not antisemitic or racially prejudiced in whatever way, nor am I a Nazi.”
However, that wasn’t beatific sufficiency because, today, the metropolis board of directors released a statement of their own:
“The Festival de metropolis provides artists from around the concern with an exceptional forum to inform their entireness and defend freedom of expression and creation. The Festival’s Board of Directors, which held an extraordinary gathering this Thursday 19 May 2011, profoundly regrets that this forum has been used by Lars Von Trier to impart comments that are unacceptable, intolerable, and disobedient to the ideals of humans and generousness that preside over the rattling cosmos of the Festival.
The Board of Directors firmly condemns these comments and declares Lars Von Trier a appearance non grata at the Festival de Cannes, with effect immediately.”
Of course, Von Trier was clearly kidding. The guy likes to feature things meet to weewee grouping off, especially when talking to journalists. However, there are a whatever jokes you meet don’t make. Being a Nazi? Yeah, that’s digit of them.
